Improving gender-sensitivity in processes of TJRNR in post-conflict countries

03/04/2012 - Impunity Watch is currently undertaking in-country research to assess the gender-sensitivity of processes of Truth, Justice, Reparations and Non-Recurrence in Burundi, Guatemala and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

This research is based on preliminary country-level desk-studies, for which  literature from diverse sources  on TJRNR-processes and on gender and conflict was analysed, supplemented with some more indebt interviews.  Abstracts of these three desk-studies, as well as a short document on overarching conclusions from these studies can be found here:

Comparative analysis of desk-studies

The current research-process will result in the publication of three country-reports. The research-data will moreover feed into multi-stakeholder policy-consultations to take place in all three countries, thus facilitating the establishment of a focussed and concrete policy-agenda for each country.

The comparison of research-data, the outcomes of the policy-consultations, the identification of best practices and the exchange of experiences and lessons learnt from the countries will contribute to the formulation of overall conclusions and recommendations on how to improve the gender-sensitivity of processes of truth, justice, reparation and non-recurrence.
