Recognising the Past: Challenges in the Combat of Impunity in Guatemala

12/04/2009 - Now available in English, this document provides a summary of a research project conducted over the past two years in Guatemala, examining the root causes and nature of impunity for crimes committed during its long civil war.

Originally published in December 2008 in Spanish, the 76-page report presents the main findings of this research, along with policy recommendations drawn from wide-ranging policy consultations with state and non-state actors for better achieving truth, justice, reparations and guarantees of non-repetition of grave crimes against international law.

The complete report shall be available shortly, along with the research data in a searchable data base.
