SPOTLIGHT ON: Research

08/05/2008 - Impunity Watch is approaching the end of its research phase in both countries where it runs national programmes. In the course of the past year, researchers from seven partner organisations have been collecting and analysing information on transitional justice processes in their countries, guided by the IW research instrument.

Their efforts will result in comprehensive reports, which will outline the main obstacles to accountability in both countries and offer concrete policy proposals for overcoming them. Throughout the course of this year, we will also strive to publish separate studies conducted as a part of our overall research programme.

The reports will form the basis for extended policy consultations planned for the early autumn this year. We expect to present our first findings to the stakeholders in both countries already this summer. Policy proposals stemming from these consultations will be added to the main bodies of both county reports.

The two reports will be launched in the late 2008. At that time, the data that IW researchers have collected will also be made available to the public in a form of a searchable database.
