WHAT WE DO

SPECIALISED RESEARCH

Using a specially developed research instrument, we work to identify the obstacles to accountability processes in selected countries. We research areas such as legal framework, work of the relevant institutions or political and social factors that influence accountability processes. This research should also serve as a baseline for ongoing oversight and analysis of state performance in this area by national partners.

TARGETED POLICY

Together with our national partners, we use research results to create and advocate for the implementation of policy proposals targeted specifically at the root causes of impunity and tailored to national circumstances.

CAPACITY BUILDING

IW aims to achieve a sustainable domestic capacity for research, policy-making and advocacy, and promotes civil society oversight of state actions on accountability.
