Impunity Watch welcomes offers of pro-bono assistance from young scholars and professionals with experience in fields related to our work.

 

Activities and responsibilities will include short-term research projects with a thematic and/or country focus. Such work may include data collection including interviewing, information management, analysis and report writing as well as policy, lobbying and communications related work.

 

Person Profile

 

Required

Applicants must have a background in one or more of the areas listed below. Suitable practical experience may substitute academic qualifications.

  • Social science (preferably sociology, anthropology, history, economics political science, psychology, criminology/penology)
  • Law (preferably national criminal, human rights and/or tort law, comparative criminal law, public international law including human rights / humanitarian law)
  • Public policy (state, international / regional organisation level, preferably rule or law  / post conflict related)
  • International relations
  • Communications (including investigative journalism, web editing, public relations, event organisation)


Applicants must in addition

  • Be in a position to dedicate a minimum of eight weeks (full-time) or sixteen weeks (part-time)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the goals of IW
  • Be fluent in English, French or Spanish
  • If applying for research related work, demonstrate practical field experience in conducting social research
  • Specify (i) if they are employed by another organisation from whom permission is required to undertake pro bono work (ii) if they are related to an employee of any governmental, state, non-governmental, private or other institution in a country in which IW is working.

 

Desirable

Working knowledge of another language (preferably French, Arabic, Mendi, Acholi)
