Esther Kamau joined Impunity Watch as a Programme Assistant in July 2019. Prior to joining Impunity Watch, she worked as a Case Management Assistant as well as a Courtroom Support Assistant in the Victims and Witnesses Section of the International Criminal Court. She has also worked in a number of NGOs advocating for inclusive participation of minorities and marginalized groups, including Kituo cha Sheria in Nairobi, Vluchtelingenwerk in The Hague, and Mental Disability Advocacy Centre in Budapest. She has been involved in research projects on mitigating natural resources related conflicts in Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies and at the University of Copenhagen. She holds an LL.M. (Master of Laws in Human rights) from Central European University in Budapest, a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Kenya School of Law, and an LL.B. in Law from Moi University, Kenya. She has professional fluency in English, Swahili and Kikuyu, and working knowledge of Dutch and Kingwana..
