Manal Sarrouf joined Impunity Watch in 2019 with more than 10 years of experience in communications and advocacy. She had previously worked for five years with the United Nations in Lebanon, as a humanitarian affairs analyst for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and in public information and external relations for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). With OCHA, she was on short missions to Sudan and Jordan. She had also worked as a Communication Specialist for USAID/Office for Transition Initiatives in Beirut. Prior to that, she was the MENA Resources Coordinator for the International Centre for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) in Beirut. She established and managed ICTJ's Arabic online presence and its communications strategy in the MENA region. In 2009‐2010, she was the Head of the English news desk for a leading local news website where she started as a news writer covering national and international news. She has a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University (LAU) and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Lebanese University. She is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
