Enhancing the Societal Impact of International Criminal Tribunals

In 26 September 2014, Impunity Watch (IW) convened an Expert Meeting, hosted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) bringing together staff from international criminal tribunals in The Hague and expert staff from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to discuss ways of enhancing the societal impact of international criminal tribunals.Two key themes were put forward as the basis for this discussion on impact, namely the need for improved outreach and the importance of more integrated approaches between criminal justice tribunals and local transitional justice initiatives. This Policy Brief is the outcome of the Expert Meeting.
