Nomination Commissions and Judicial Independence in Guatemala

The Policy Brief on the naming and appointing process of Supreme Court judges and the Chambers of the Court of Appeals in Guatemala was created by the need to point out all the factors that led to the stagnation of the process of election of judges of the Supreme Court and the Chambers of the Court of Appeals in Guatemala. Through critical analysis of these mechanisms of choice, is evidenced its permeability before de facto powers interests, contrary to international standards and national law parameters on judicial independence.
