The Bruins look to steal game seven on the road Saturday night when they visit the Hurricanes.

The best game in the NHL playoffs comes to Carolina on Saturday night when the Bruins and Hurricanes battle it out in game seven of their best of seven series.

Brad Marchand got his fourth goal of the series to open the scoring 46 seconds into the second period to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Charlie Coyle added a power-play goal at 18:04 to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead.

The Hurricanes would cut it to a one-goal lead early in the third, but the Bruins would roll off three straight goals during an eight-minute stretch to put the game away.

The Bruins head back to Carolina, looking to get the first road win of the series and send the heavily favored Hurricanes home with another disappointing playoff loss.

Game 7 will define Auston Matthews’ and Mitch Marner’s seasons

Auston Matthews won his first Rocket Richard Trophy in 2021. He was also runner-up to Connor McDavid for league MVP. Mitch Marner, meanwhile, was one of six players selected to the NHL’s end-of-season All-Star team. He was named the best right winger in hockey during the 2020-21 regular season.

That stuff came to mean less because of what came next for the Maple Leafs: A seven-game loss to an inferior Canadiens team that ultimately shut down Matthews and Marner when it mattered most.

First, it was best of seven. Then, it was best of three. Now, it is best of one.

The first-round series between the Hurricanes and Bruins comes down to Game 7 on Saturday. Boston forced the winner-take-all matchup with a 5-2 win in Game 6 on Thursday.

The home team has won every game in the series thus far, which is good news for Carolina as Game 7 will be at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C.

The Hurricanes jumped out to a 2-0 series lead before the Bruins won Games 3 and 4 to tie the series. Carolina earned a win in Game 5 before the Boston win in Game 6.

Carolina has been relying on backup goaltender Antti Raanta in the first round. Starter Frederik Andersen remains sidelined with a lower-body injury. Raanta, as well as Pyotr Kochetkov, have been solid in his place.

The Bruins were without Hampus Lindholm for Games 3, 4 and 5, but the blue-liner who was acquired at the deadline made his return in Game 6.

The winner of the series will take on the Panthers or the Capitals in the second round.

Here's everything you need to know about the Hurricanes vs. Bruins Game 7 matchup.
