This bulletin (in Spanish) details the process for the election of judges to the Constitutional Court (CC) in Guatemala, which took place between January – March 2026, amidst intense political tensions and pressure from external actors. Regrettably, political interests took precedence over technical criteria for selecting the most upright, capable and independent individuals to form the country’s most important court. It describes the composition of the Court, details undue interference by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and anomalies observed in the process.
