Senior Programme Officer - West Asia and North Africa
Darine Matmati is Senior Programme Officer – MENA at Impunity Watch. In her current role, Darine channels her efforts towards Tunisia, where she actively advocates for transitional justice. Her work focuses on promoting accountability, supporting survivors, and addressing the systemic and legal inequalities stemming from past injustices.
Darine possesses a deep interest in the field of International Law, specializing in the Law of the Sea. As a doctoral candidate at Jean Moulin Lyon III University in France, she conducts in-depth research to advance effective maritime governance and strengthen the international regime of nuclear security.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Darine shares her knowledge by teaching Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Judicial, Political, and Social Sciences in Tunis for seven semesters, spanning from 2017 to 2019.
Beyond her professional contributions, Darine co-founded the Tunisian Institute for the Law of the Sea (TILOS) and the nuclear disarmament study group, GEDN, in Tunisia. These endeavors exemplify her commitment to fostering collaboration and advancing expertise within her areas of specialization.
