The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEVW) is a moment to reflect on, renew, amplify, and strategize to achieve commitments to eliminate gender-based violence.
How have we observed this day in the past?
2023
We released a thematic newsletter highlighting how the voices of women victims can be powerful instigators of societal change across multiple contexts, and the need to engage men and boys in breaking cycles of structural violence against women.
In Burundi, we also participated in the ‘16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV)’ campaign. Our theme is ‘Placing masculinities and dealing with the past at the heart of discussions on GBV’. We carried out multiple activities, both online and in person.
