On 30 May 2025, Maya Achi women survivors have once again reached justice in Guatemalan courts in a second trial and sentence against three former members of the Civil Self-Defence Patrols (PAC) for crimes against humanity and sexual violence committed against them in the municipality of Rabinal, Baja Verapaz, between 1981 and 1983. The first sentence was achieved in January 2022, against five former paramilitaries.

The reparation hearing was held on 4 June 2025, with the Tribunal ordering 19 reparation measures, that are classified in five categories: compensation, rehabilitation, restitution, satisfaction and guarantees of non-recurrence.

The UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflicts, Pramila Patten, expressed her recognition of the struggle of the survivors: “It is important to continue supporting the Maya Achi women’s journey of healing and redress not only for them but their children, families and communities so this will never happen again”.
